The goal of the AmiZilla effort is to raise such an obscene/huge amount of money to give away to the first programmer/team that can port Mozilla to Amiga that Amiga programmers will be falling over themselves getting this application coded in record time. We believe in the Amiga and want it to be successful. We also believe in the Netscape browser and have been using it for years. We were very sad when Microsoft killed this great company and they got sold off to AOL. But Netscape did something before being sold that was the greatest payback. They gave the world the sourcecode to Netscape Communicator! When the sourcecode was released in 1998 we thought for sure it would be ported to the Amiga super fast the way Doom & Quake were. Well it is 2003 and still no Netscape/Mozilla on Amiga OS. So now we are willing to put our money were our mouth is and are offering $2000 to the lucky coder(s) that can send us even a beta of this browser for Amiga OS. You don't have to port the e-mail package or some of the other tools, just the browser portion of Mozilla.

Also to increase the pot we have setup a special website & paypal e-mail account to receive donations. We have already placed $2000 dollars into this account and will keep a daily tally of any and all donations. This money will always be available to the first person/team who gets it ported. You don't have to donate to the cause but if you have a little money to spare and you want Netscape to finally be on the Amiga OS please consider helping make this dream come true. No donation is too small, even only $5 or $10 is fine if that is all you can afford. Doners will be listed on this site via thier name or handle if they want to be listed. Keep in mind programmers this effort should work on @ least Amiga OS 3.9, WinUAE, Amithlon, MorphOS, AROS, Amiga OS 4.0, etc. so everyone can benefit from the effort. We will help you beta test it of course. Please keep the dream alive.

Best regards

DiscreetFX Team

But what about IBrowse? What about Voyager? you say. Well IBrowse is a very good browser from http://www.iospirit.de/ if you need something today buying that would be your best bet. I have not used Voyager in years but I hear it is good as well. The problem though is that because the Amiga is the only modern computer without Netscape we are a laughing stock. We need the respect and stature that having Mozilla on our operating system will bring. It will help our browser market and user base grow.

Thanks to Robin Cloutman for setting up

AmiZilla Message Board

So the work of porting this app can be shared.

To spread the news about AmiZilla we will be taking out a full page Ad in the next issue of Total Amiga and the next issue of NewsTek, hopefully we will reach more talented Amiga coders this way. Just like we did to start this project we will be reaching into our own pocket to pay for this ad. The pot stays available to the person or team that ports Mozilla first.
