There are some tools I mainly use...

CAREUnpatch - Use this small x86 dos utility to rebuild CARE releases

PHXASS - Frank Wille's great assembler. For me the best assembler... (Well, I found two little program bugs in this assembler during my assembler sessions) :-)

IRA - For me the best disassembler (beta: 1.07)

WINUAE - The best amiga emulator for pc, great debugging functions

UltraEdit - For me the best text/hex editor for pc
